Brief: Furnish a townhouse to create a designer finish on a budget
A problem cabinet on the back wall caused the room to be cut in half when it was used for a TV stand, because of where the sofa had to be placed to face it.
Creative solution:
- Bought an oversized silver mirror, lamps and accessories then turned the sofa around to face the room. The dead wall became a beautiful backdrop for the sofa
- The room effectively doubled in size visually
- A dark room with no windows was originally the dining room just off the living room. I convinced my client to change the room to a study. We added a new desk and shelving from Freedom, a tall boy character chest of drawers from French Connection and two huge wall mirrors to reflect the windows in the living room
- This opened up the dead wall, giving extra light and visually enlarging the space
- We purchased some interesting upholstered chairs to create a designer look on a budget
- An assortment of lovely lamps adds a sophisticated ambience
